Lori Vallow Daybell, who is serving consecutive life sentences in Idaho for murdering two of her children after being inspired by what prosecutors called her “doomsday” beliefs, has been extradited to Arizona to face charges of conspiracy to commit murder in two other cases. Sheriff’s deputies from Maricopa County, Ariz., accompanied Ms. Vallow Daybell, 50, on the 18-hour drive from prison in Pocatello, Idaho, to the Estrella Jail in Phoenix, where she was booked late on Wednesday night, the Maricopa County sheriff, Paul Penzone, said at a news conference. Ms. Vallow Daybell, who will remain in custody without bail, “was very sociable the entire trip,” the sheriff said. She “talked quite a bit.”Ms. Vallow Daybell faces two counts of conspiracy to commit murder related to two cases in Arizona. She was indicted in 2021 in Maricopa County after her brother, Alexander Cox, shot and killed the fourth of her five husbands, Charles Vallow, in July 2019.

CNN —Whether they are called district attorneys, state’s attorneys or something else, the job of local prosecutors has traditionally flown under the national political radar. In fact, unlike the attorney general, a local district attorney cannot be fired by the president. The lesson for Meadows is that the local district attorney isn’t automatically bound by any deal with the feds. Willis and Bragg are not the only state prosecutors making headlines this year. Trump’s legal team is so fearful of state court that they have been fighting to “remove” his New York criminal case to federal court.

Lori Vallow Daybell's children, Joshua Vallow, 7, and his sister, Tylee Ryan, 16, went missing in September 2019, according to the Rexburg Police Department. Police didn’t locate him at the family’s house but were told by Vallow Daybell and Daybell he was staying with a family friend in Arizona, according to authorities. She attempted over the next few months to contact her grandson, but never got any response from Vallow Daybell, she said.
